Welcome to Shutterbugs & Sippycups
Field-Tested Recommendations from Birth to Toddlerhood
Early parenthood is beautiful.
It’s also overwhelming.
There are checklists for everything. Opinions about everything. Products marketed as “essential” before you’ve even had time to figure out what your days actually look like.
Some tools truly help.
Some quietly add more noise.
I built Shutterbugs & Sippycups to help families tell the difference.
The Perspective Behind This Space
I’ve spent over 11 years in the childcare industry — supporting families as a birth and postpartum doula, working 7+ years as a career nanny, teaching in a Montessori classroom for 1.5+ years, and photographing families for over a decade.
That means I haven’t just seen one stage of childhood.
I’ve seen what eases recovery in the early weeks.
I’ve watched which registry items are used daily — and which quietly get returned.
I’ve structured classrooms where overstimulation shows up quickly.
I’ve managed real-life routines where logistics matter more than aesthetics.
Over time, you begin to notice patterns.
The most marketed products aren’t always the most helpful.
The most aesthetic systems aren’t always the most sustainable.
And sometimes, buying less — with intention — creates more calm.
How I Evaluate What I Recommend
When I test something, I’m not asking whether it’s trending.
I’m asking:
Is this safe and developmentally supportive?
Does it simplify daily life?
Is it durable beyond the newborn stage?
Will this still make sense in six months?
Does this reduce friction — or add to it?
Because early childhood is already full.
The right tools should support families, not overwhelm them.
If something genuinely helps, I’ll explain why.
If it’s unnecessary, I’ll explain that too — and offer a steadier alternative.

The Standard I Hold
If I link it, I’ve tested it.
If I recommend it, I’ve seen it work.
If it adds more stress than support, I won’t promote it.
You don’t need more noise.
You need clarity.
And that’s what this space is built to offer.
